Covid-19 update: masks and support person

Following the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Melbourne, as from midnight on Wednesday 8th July, The Royal Women’s Hospital will be offering face masks to all inpatients and outpatients (including WOGS patients) and partners/carers.

If you decide to wear a mask, please follow this procedure to maximise its effectiveness:
– wash your hands before applying the mask and after removing it
– do not touch your face when the mask is on
– replace the mask after 4 hours (or before if it is visibly soiled)
– do not dangle your mask around your neck.

Please also remember to keep practising regular handwashing, effective cough etiquette and physical distancing of 1.5 metres.

It has also become necessary to re-instate the rule that patients will only be allowed one support person in labour.

WOGS and The Royal Women’s Hospital share a commitment to doing everything we can to protect the health and safety of our patients and staff during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We are grateful for your cooperation.
