COVID-19, mental health and support

Many of our patients have told us that they are feeling anxious and having to deal with a sense of loss because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lockdown restrictions have resulted in many patients being unable to see their family and friends. They tell us that they’re missing the practical and emotional support, as well as being able to share the joy that a baby brings.

Many parents-to-be have also had to change their expectations in terms of attending antenatal classes, appointments with us and, in some cases, the type of birthing experience they have.

Feelings of stress, worry and isolation are very natural in the current circumstances. If you are feeling overwhelmed, please ask for help. There are many sources of support, including your GP, WOGS obstetrician and organisations such as:

COPE – cope.org.au
PANDA – panda.org.au
Beyond Blue – beyondblue.org.au
Let’s take care and look after each other. 💜
