About Us

Women’s Obstetric and Gynaecology Specialists (WOGS) was established in 1998 and pioneered group private practice in Melbourne. Our five female obstetricians and gynaecologists – Dr Jenny Dowd, Dr Khairul Mohamed-Noor, Dr Kym Jansen, Dr Renee Wong and Dr Philippa Costley – combine their expertise to provide specialist care in a warm and supportive environment. Founding member, Dr Angelie Lee, retired from the practice in 2016.

Pregnancy care
At WOGS, we consider it a privilege to accompany families on their pregnancy journey.
Our practice offers an innovative model of private obstetric. Placing our patients at the centre of care, we use our considerable experience to support them to make informed choices and achieve a safe and healthy delivery.

Patients can access one of our specialist obstetricians 24 hours a day throughout their pregnancy and up until their six-week postnatal visit. Patients will mainly see their dedicated primary obstetrician; however, they also meet all the WOGS obstetricians to ensure that they will always be cared for by someone who is familiar to them. All our obstetric patients are delivered at Frances Perry House
, the private hospital co-located with and the Royal Women's Hospital.

Gynaecology
Our highly experienced gynaecologists perform a wide range of procedures, including those relating to abnormal bleeding, painful periods and endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids, fertility issues and menopause.

We also perform a range of office gynaecological procedures including cervical screening tests and insertions of intrauterine devices.

Midwives

Elizabeth and Carrie are the midwives at the Women’s Obstetric and Gynaecology Specialists (WOGS).

They are experienced midwives who have broad knowledge in pregnancy, birth, postnatal care, and breastfeeding and will be a valuable resource for you during your care at WOGS. You may wish to contact Elizabeth or Carrie during your early pregnancy, in the weeks leading up to your first appointment, or at any time during your pregnancy. They are available Monday to Friday during practice hours. Childbirth Education – Elizabeth & Carrie can provide informal, small group childbirth education (labour & birth) classes, aimed at first time parents-to-be.

These are held fortnightly in the familiar rooms at WOGS – you can call or see them at one of your appointments to discuss, or email about the sessions at ec.educationforchildbirth@gmail.com. If you are scheduled for an appointment and your Obstetrician is called away for a birth, or emergency situation, they will be able to assist with your antenatal consultation. Elizabeth and Carrie work regularly at Frances Perry House in both the postnatal ward and birth suites, so it is also possible they will be part of the team involved in your hospital care.

Administrative Staff

Supporting the Practice are our dedicated and friendly staff Silvia, Robyn, Lelia, Stacey and Sasha.  They form an important part of the team to provide efficient patient care and to assist you throughout your pregnancy, appointments and/or procedures. At times the Practice can be very busy and delays may happen but our experienced team will endeavour to make your experience as smooth as possible. Stacey, our Practice Manager, is continually working with the team to improve our service and would be happy to hear your feedback.
