Breast Feeding Support and Advice

Breastfeeding, while natural, is still a learned skill, at least for the mother.

Some women breastfeed easily from the first day and never have a problem, but many meet hurdles somewhere along the road.

There are several resources to assist you and your partner learn more about breastfeeding.

Frances Perry House provides Breastfeeding Education sessions. (The booking form is in their information pack).

The Australian Breastfeeding Association http://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/ has a free breastfeeding e book, Breastfeeding Confidence, which includes information  such as How often should I feed my baby? How can I tell if they are getting enough milk?

The ABA also has an excellent  Lactation Resource Centre which specialises in providing the community and health care industry with comprehensive and readily useable information resources on all aspects of human lactation.

After you have given birth the Midwives and Lactation Consultants at Frances Perry House will assist you with all aspects of breastfeeding. You will also receive a booklet about breastfeeding which you will be able to take home.
